The Nilson NA-600 Otter Float Legs were designed to replace the original Otter float leg which had become scarce and very expensive, and required periodic inspections fro cracks. The legs are constructed from 4130 Chrome-moly steel. The components are formed and machined and welded in a jig. (I.A.W. MIL STD 1595A). The legs are then X-rayed in the critical areas and heat treated. The interior of the les are coated with a preservative oil compound and then purged with nitrogen and the plugs are driven in. The exterior is painted with epoxy. These legs have been tested to the ultimate load requirement, plus safety factor. When the D.A.R. and Transport Canada inspectors were satisfied, we took them to 150% of that load to satisfy ourselves. The legs are approved by both Transport Canada and by the FAA.
